Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ can forgive your sins and make you a brand new person
Jesus Christ showed us who God is: a Father who deeply cares about you and who wants to hold you in his arms, where you belong. In him you find the rest and the joy you long for. He knows you better than anyone else and he loves you more than you will ever love yourself.

Jesus Christ is the only one who can give you true, everlasting love.
Jesus Christ did not come to start a new religion. Not at all. On the contrary, He came to set you free from the oppression of mundade religion. He came to give you a freedom and a life you can’t even dream of. Jesus Christ said amazing things, like:
‘For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.’ (Luke 19:10)
‘I came that you may have life, and have it abundantly.’ (John 10:10)
‘If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.’ (John 8:36)

Jesus Christ gives you the joy and the peace you need, deep inside.
Religion places heavy burdens on your shoulders and puts you in a spiritual prison of control and manmade traditions. Jesus Christ however came to set you free and make you a beloved child of God. God is your home, where you belong and where you find true happiness. He is the answer to your deepest questions and needs. Religion will never help you, but Jesus Christ offers you a brand new life, in the overwhelming love of God.
Jesus Christ understands you even better than you do yourself. He knows what you are going through and what you have experienced in life. He does not judge or condemn you, but he understands everything. Instead of pointing a finger, he says:
‘Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.’ (Matthew 11:28)

Jesus Christ reveals God as a Father
Jesus Christ told several stories that explain how passionately God loves us. One of these stories is about the prodigal son: a young man leaves his father to seek fulfillment in lust, money and parties. He ends up broken and lonely. He is afraid to go back to his father and thinks that maybe, if he will become a hard working slave in his fathers house, he might be accepted again.

He is afraid to go back to his father and thinks that maybe, if he will become a hard working slave in his fathers house, he might be accepted again.
But when his father sees his son, he hugs him joyfully and organises a great feast to celebrate the return of his beloved child.
‘Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ (Luke 15:23)
‘Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ (Luke 15:23)
Jesus Christ explained that God is a father who rejoices, when we come home in his arms.
You don’t need to become a hard working slave of a religion that wears you out. No, with God you come home, as a valued and honored child of the most high God, the creator of heaven and earth. This is what the Bible says:
‘To all who receive him, to those who believe in his name, he gives the right to become children of God.’ (John 1:12)
‘See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! ‘ (1 John 3:1)
‘Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” (Galatians 4:6)
Jesus Christ brings you home, where you belong. He shows you the heavenly Father who truly loves you and who is waiting for you to return to him. In God you find true identity, value and a future full of hope.

Jesus Christ is the Good Shepherd
Jesus Christ also told the story of a lamb that got trapped in the thorns of a wild bush, far away from home. The good shepherd -who deeply cares about his sheep- is looking everywhere to find this one little lamb. When he finds it, he saves it from its hopeless situation, takes it in his arms and brings it safely home.

I am this Good Shepherd, Jesus said.
With this story Jesus shows us: ‘I seek you, wherever you are, and I want to set you free from the thorns that hurt you. I have abundant life for you. Allow Me to carry you back home, and you will be safe.’ The love Jesus Christ has for you is so great, that he literally gave his life for you. He said:
‘I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.’(John 10:11)

How does Jesus Christ save you?
We all know very well that this world is full of evil. But not only the external world is influenced by sin… all of us have evil in our hearts. In the depth of our being we are selfish and we have a hard time being pure and honest all the time. This sin makes us guilty before God.

We can’t save ourselves from our sinful hearts.
We may think we can deliver ourselves by becoming for example very spiritually enlightened, but the reality is we will be fooling ourselves. We need God himself to set us free. We need the grace and the salvation that only God can give us. That is why God sent Jesus Christ, to pay the price for our sins.

Who is Jesus?
Many people wonder if it is true that Jesus Christ is sent by God, to save us from our sins. Many will say he was a good person, an excellent teacher or even a special prophet. But is he indeed the Son of God, who died for us to save us? In order to know who Jesus is, we must listen to his words. What did Jesus say about himself? After all, if he was a good teacher, a nice person and a prophet, his words can be trusted, right? Well… what did Jesus Christ, this inspiring and wise man say? These are some quotes from the gospels, that reveal who Jesus is:
‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.’ (John 14:6)
‘I and the Father are one.’ (John 10:29)
‘He who has seen Me has seen the Father.’ (John 14:9)
‘For just as the Father has life in Himself, even so He gave to the Son also to have life in Himself.’ (John 5:26)
‘I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.’ (John 8:12)
‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die.’ (John 11:25)

Jesus Christ said things no man had ever said before… Jesus said that he and God the Father are a perfect unity.
He stated that he existed before the world was created, that he can give eternal life to people, that he forgives our sins, that he is the redeemer of mankind, etc. So when we look at the very words of Jesus himself, we see that he made it all too clear that he is infinitely more than a prophet or teacher. He said: I am the perfect expression of God! I am the only way to God…

Jesus Christ applies God’s name on himself
Jesus Christ went even further… He applied the historical name of God to himself, thereby declaring he IS God. This special name of God was revealed to Moses, when he encountered God in a supernaturally burning bush. Moses asked God: ‘What is your name?’ God answered:‘I AM’. Since then, the Jews have always known God with this amazing name ‘I AM’, which means ‘I am here, I am eternally present.’ In a conversation with Jewish religious leaders, Jesus Christ completely stunned them, by saying:
‘Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I AM.‘ (John 8:58)

That was the worst form of blasphemy in the eyes of the religious leaders! They were so deeply horrified that they wanted to kill Jesus immediately:
‘Therefore they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple.’ (John 8:58)

Jesus Christ performed thousands of miracles
The second way to find out who Jesus is, is by looking at his deeds. What did he do? Jesus Christ did not only speak in an astonishing way about himself, he also did things that were never heard of. The four gospels show us that 25% of everything Jesus Christ did, had to do with extraordinary miracles: he raised people from the dead, he walked on water, he fed thousands of people with a few loaves, he stilled a terrifying storm with one word, he cast out countless demons from thousands of people and he healed tens of thousands of sick people.

Through his thousands of miracles, Jesus Christ showed that he indeed is God, who has power over creation, sickness and death.
The evangelist Matthew writes six times in his account of the life of Jesus that he healed every sick person that came near to him! Here are some examples from scripture:
‘They brought to him all who were ill, those suffering with various diseases and pains, demoniacs, epileptics, paralytics; and he healed them.’ (Matthew 4:24)
‘The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them.‘ (Matthew 21:14)
‘Great crowds came to him, bringing the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute and many others, and laid them at his feet; and he healed them.’ (Matthew 15:30)
‘A large crowd followed him, and he healed all who were ill.’ (Matthew 12:15)
Crowds of many thousands of people followed Jesus Christ everywhere he went. They even came from the surrounding nations, bringing all who were ill. And Jesus Christ healed all of them. Not some… but all. That is what the gospels state very clearly.

No person in history of mankind ever did what Jesus Christ has done.
If we look at the life of Jesus Christ, it is obvious that he is far more than a teacher, leader or prophet. He said things only God could say and he did things only God could do. This makes it clear that indeed, Jesus is God. Therefor the only way we can become children of God, is through Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ is historically proven
Some critics desperately want to escape from Jesus Christ by claiming he never existed. That is nonsense of course, because even our era is based on his birth. Think of it… we live in the 21st century… since the birth of Jesus Christ. His life is the very cornerstone of our calendar!

His book, the Bible, is the most printed book of all times and the most translated book of all times.
There are more Bibles on earth than that there are people. Every year more than half a billion bible portions are distributed on earth! The existence of Jesus Christ is better documented than that of many great names from history (think of Julius Caesar, Alexander the Great, etc.). Not only the Bible speaks about him, there are lots of other historians that wrote about him. Saying he never existed is just silly.

Jesus Christ rose from the grave
The most significant thing about Jesus Christ is that he came back to life after he died. His resurrection is one of the best documented facts of history with more than five hundred eye-witnesses. This is the greatest difference between leaders of all religions and Jesus Christ. All of them are dead, buried and eaten by the worms. Jesus Christ is not dead, he is alive! In the article ‘Is Jesus real?‘ you can view amazing documentaries, about people worldwide who have dramatic love changing encounters with the living Jesus Christ.

Jesus rose from the dead, proving once and for all he is the Son of God, who came to give people eternal life.
Not only did Jesus Christ rise from the grave, he said that it is Gods will that all who believe in him will receive everlasting life with God:
‘For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day. Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life.’ (John 6:40, 47)

We have to be born again
Jesus Christ did not come to us, to bring another religion. People came up with the idea of ‘christianity’ and made a religion out of the teachings of Jesus Christ. But that is not what he wanted. He explained that people cannot come to God in their own strength. Our religious or spiritual efforts are not able to give us a new heart. You cannot change yourself by a religion, lifestyle or philosophy. Jesus Christ said that we had to be radically transformed, by the new birth.
‘Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.’ (John 3:3)

This new birth happens by the Spirit of God, if you acknowledge with all your heart that Jesus Christ is your saviour.
If you humble yourself under Gods mighty hand and acknowledge that you need Jesus Christ to be your savior, who forgives your sins, then the Holy Spirit can come into you and give you this new birth. You literally will become a new person, from the inside out, by a miracle of God in you. You will become a child of God and he will embrace you forever in his loving arms. That is why the evangelist John says about Jesus:
‘But as many as received Him, to them he gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in his name, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.’ (John 1:12, 13)
So Jesus Christ did not come to make us religious. No, he was even murdered by the religious leaders of his time, because he was so un-religious! Jesus Christ came to save us from our sins and make us children of God.

Jesus Christ died for our sins
Jesus didn’t come to give us a list of rules we have to follow, he literally came to give his life for you and me, to save us from our sins and make us precious children of God, through the Holy Spirit. That is totally different from all the founders of religions. They didn’t give their life for mankind. They brought a certain philosophy, a way of life through which a person has to try to come to God by their own efforts.

Jesus said: ‘It is impossible for you to come to God. I have to die as the sacrifice for your sins.’
That is the ultimate difference between Jesus Christ and religion. That is why Jesus Christ is so important. Jesus didn’t bring religion, he brought himself, his own life. Jesus Christ let himself be slain like a sacrificial lamb and let his blood flow for the forgiveness of your sin. That is why John the Baptist said, when he saw Jesus pass by:
‘Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!’ (John 1:27)
So, who is Jesus? He is not a prophet or a wise leader or anything else people like to call him. Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the answer of God to a lost world. God loves the world so much, that he was willing to become a man himself and die for us. He took our place and payed the price for our sins by dying as an innocent lamb.

How can you be saved?
Jesus Christ made it clear that the only way we can be saved from our sins, and this evil world, is by believing in him. God’s plan for you is to be saved from this lost world and become a new creation, a brand new person, someone who has been saved by the blood of Jesus Christ. Someone who is forgiven and cleansed. He will give you a new name, a new future, a new hope, a new calling. He has dreams over you, just like any father has over his children.

But you must believe in Jesus Christ. Believe in his sacrifice for you.

I want to encourage you to do something you may never have done before. It may sound strange and very challenging for some who read this, but please: if you know God is speaking to your heart through this article, then do this:
Kneel down before God, right now.
If you are not alone, then go to a place where you can be alone. Why do I encourage you to kneel down? Because pride is the basic sin of mankind towards God. We say we don’t need God, we rebel against his will, we exalt ourselves against our Creator, we live independent of him, etc. But when we kneel, we say:
‘You are God, I am not. I cannot save myself, I cannot become a child of God through my own efforts. I need to be saved by you.’

Kneel before Jesus Christ and you ask him to save you.
Feel free to talk to God in your own words, to say you accept the blood of Jesus Christ to save you and make you a child of God. But you can also read out loud this prayer (it may be a good idea to print it first):
‘Lord Jesus Christ, I realize that you are the Son of God. I bow before you now. I surrender my heart to you. Please enter into my life and be my God. I give myself to you. Please forgive me for my sins. Cleanse me with your blood and make me your child. I believe that you died for me, to set me free from my sins. I receive your sacrifice Jesus. Help me to become a true child of God, by obeying your word. Amen.’
I encourage you to do this. Don’t let this opportunity pass by. Too many people hear the voice of God and never act on it. Do it now. Respond to the love of God, that is reaching out to you this very moment. God is here with you, he hears your heart and your words, he knows you and he loves you… and he wants to make you his child.
Amen.’

Surrender to Jesus Christ, give him your life and trust in him, for the rest of your life.
He is so full of love and compassion for you. He knows all about you, he knows your deepest sins and struggles… and he longs to embrace you in his arms of love forever, as his precious child.
But he is waiting for you to come to him…
